Re: How Do i Change the Light in the dash

The bulbs that are in mentioned on Ebay are 3/4" in length, which everyone else is saying will fit directly in. However, the LEDs that was used by hondagura on cardomain had a length of 13/16"
If you go to this site, http://superlumination.com/74.htm and scroll down, you will see that the LEDs carried by them have a length of 3/4" which "should" fit it nicely without all the hassle. I just ordered 9 LEDs from them so will get back to you after I get the bulbs and install them. Unfortunately, my camera recently got stolen so I don't think I will be able to take any pictures though.

Re: How Do i Change the Light in the dash

Yes please let us know if it works! I would love to do this mod, but I'm not confident enough to go pulling apart my lights and trying to do that much of a mod. My other concern is what happens if the lights do go in but, still for what ever reason, don't work. Could you blow fuses or is it possible to completly mess up the wiring?

Re: How Do i Change the Light in the dash

As promised, here is the follow up. Dun dun dun!!!!!

doesn't work .
First I proceeded to remove the panel in front of the instrument panel. After taking out the guage, I removed on the of the bulbs and compared it. And the result... the LED is just to big. The LED is about a 1/4" longer then the stock bulbs. The length does not seem to matter. But the problem is the base of the LED. the base about 1/16" too wide. However, I am now about to order the #74 colored bulbs from them to test out and I shall get back to you guys. Please wait for results before you guys do this.

Re: How Do i Change the Light in the dash

Ok so I've just found out that the #74 bulbs are in general a bit too wide to have an exact fit. The bulbs are about 0.5mm too wide. So what's the solution? Go to any art supply store and ask for stain glass paint. What you do is pick any color that you want. Go back home and pull out the bulbs. Tape the end of the bulbs so that you can grab hold of it and dip into the paint to give its first coat. After the first coat has dried dip another time for the second and final coat. Let the coat dry for about couple hours. Next plug the bulbs back in. And there you have it. All you spend is about $1.93 for the paint. Of course I've learned this the hard way and spent about $40.00 for the sake of other Element Owners Club members. For under two dollars you can have any color that you wish. And you can dip into two different colors for each coat to mix your own color.

Re: How Do i Change the Light in the dash

Wow I would not have thought of that. Any pics? Thanks for the effort. How do the bulbs work with the paint? Are they still bright enough?
