Just oiled a dry AFE filter...

Cleaned an AFE filter today on another car I just picked up. When I got done, I sprayed the filter with K&N oil like I normally do on the K&N filter in my E. Does anyone know if this completely hosed up the filter? I have not put it back on or fired up the engine yet since figuring this out. The previous owner just confirmed that it's a dry filter. Wish I'd known.

Entirely possible. Dry filters have much smaller openings, which could get clogged very easily by the oil & dust it catches.

Seems to be the consensus from everyone I've talked to so far. GRRRR. I should have checked with the previous owner before I pulled the trigger.

$75 mistake. Ouch.
