I have had a lot of luck with mine! 7 years old, 80.000 miles and no problem.

Did you get work done recently? Put new tires and had alignment done at 30k. What do you know, I have two torn ball joint boots! Good luck proving it. Just remember most of the service managers are working on commission.

I see those ball joint and tie rod end boots torn all the time, at least the boots are replaceable and you don't have to replace the whole ball joint

Both ball joint boots on mine are cracked and starting to seep grease, only 42,000 miles. Unreal at this mileage and age. At least they are available with out buying the whole ball joint.

UGH

What does commission have to do with it. Are you implying they sabotaged your vehicle?

i just bought a brand new, liftime warranty, greasable ball joint for $16 from advance, and found a shop to press it in for me for $50 so i wouldnt have to buy the ball joint press tool. total was $66 for an entire brand new ball joint, not just a boot. shop around some more brother, the price you are quoted is expected from a dealership, but it can definitely be beat by quite a bit!

I'm not sure why you need to proof anything. Installing new tires and alignment job doesn't even come close to touching joint boots.
