I have tried to find a post to match my problem, and after much searching I did not really find an answer. My front end, esspecially the drivers side, makes creaking noises when I drive over uneven ground, mostly at low speeds, like less than 25ish mph. I called up my dealer and they want to charge me 80 bucks just to check it out. Does that sound right? Shouldn't they just do it for free, and charge me if there is something broken? I am out of warrenty, I have 50,000 miles on it. I wonder it if might be a bad strut or something, if so, what kind of damage could that be causing? Any ideas? Thanks
Try and bounce up and down on the driver's side corner of the vehicle (i.e stand on the bumper on that corner of the car) and see if you can compress the suspension.
If it makes the noise you hear at low speeds it may well be a bad strut. You shouldn't damage anything by driving with a worn strut but your tires may wear unevenly.
Since you are out of warranty why use the dealer if they won't give you a free diagnosis? A lot of suspension shops (Midas among others) will often give your vehicle a free once over to check out potentially worn suspension or brake components.
Look on this site for the thread Front end noise revisited.
I found it by googling: Honda element "front end noise"
It's helpful to kno some details about your E like the year, and drive train, i.e., auto trans, manual, all wheel drive, or 2wd.
Good luck. For what it's worth, my 86 Honda Civic wagon, 2wd, auto, w/ 100k+ miles has been making similar noises forever. I bought it w/ 60k on it...Plus the constant velocity joints have knocked forever on tight turns.
Since the OP admitted that he knew nothing about cars, it's slightly possible that the noise is coming from the rear end --if he has 4WD--and the fluid needs to be changed. If your profile and location are filled in, it may help getting questions answered.

Wellll, the OP did NOT say he knew nothing about cars, he said he did not know much about the inner workings of a car. I know when a noise is coming from the front end or the rear. Thanks though. And sorry my profile is not filled in.
Mine does it at low speed also but on the right front end. It is a 2 wheel drive.
Just bought mine 2 months ago and took it to the dealer. They said they are going to replace the strut.
