Hmm. Should be enough to cover those guys who insist on a 10-mile change interval.

Useful to know. There is such a tremendous difference between the two I can't understand how they can treat them as interchangeable. The Filtech's have to cost Honda 2-3X what the Frams do... or Fram's making a killing.

What really mystifies me is that we have not yet found an equivalent to the Filtech in the aftermarket. Like I said and so far, it appears to be completely unique.

Re: Comprehensive Oil Filter Survey

Hey Mike, thanks for all the work you put in on this problem. I was wondering if you would consider including the K&N oil filter to your test in addition to the Amsoil one you plan on testing next. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Re: Comprehensive Oil Filter Survey

Trevor, can you watch out for the A01s when they arrive in inventory? Put a post up here... or ask Tom to send out a mass email so we know they are in and we can then clean you out of your inventory. :)

I'm serious... how many come in a case? 50 or so? I can easily split the cost with Genom and Type X and some others around here...

Ok, now we just need to find them! lol I will make some calls to the dealers around here on Monday and see what I can find. I wouldn't mind having a stock of 12-18 filters I have more than enough room to store them in the garage. Just wonder how many come in a case.

Re: Comprehensive Oil Filter Survey

I've looked on most local dealers' online parts inventory and they all come up with special order when the AO1 part number is entered into the search...hmmm...a few calls would still be a good idea.

I posted this Honda filter comparison on the other thread...I'm not sure how many have looked at it since it seems everyone is posting here. I posted the link to show the bypass inside the Wix filter...some JDM Honda filters are listed as well in that comparison, with part numbers.

Re: Comprehensive Oil Filter Survey

Hey Mike,
You did a great job, I love it. I have a question though. I use the M1-108 mobil filter. I got a deal on a case of six for 26 dollars. It is the same diameter of the stock filter, just about an inch shorter. Can I assume that this means less filtering paper still? Or, does it mean the entire filter contents are scaled down? Now it scares the crap out of me to drive on that filter! I am so dissapointed in mobil 1. I guess it makes sense though. Mobil is an oil company not an oil filter company. I am very interested to see how a k&n filter matches up to others in your experiment.

Justin
