Question ScotchGuard...

Hey,

After seeing several threads about stains on the upholstery (seats, etc), I went out and got some ScotchGuard Spray Carpet/Fabric Protector.

The ScotchGuard is supposed to be absorbed into the fibers and when dry will prevent or make it easier to clean-up any stains. However, the Seats are supposed to be water resistant. I'm doubtful of this since I had an oil stain from a wrench on the rear seat and I used a spray cleaner on the fabric, the fabric immediately soaked-up the cleaner.

So, I think the ScotchGuard will be absorbed into the fibers just the same and provide protection.

Anyone try ScotchGuard or Similar? Any drawbacks?

Thx, Phil

Re: ScotchGuard...

Turns your seats purple and then they fall out.

I would be curious though if it does work because I would use it if it does. Please let me know what you find out.

Re: ScotchGuard...

My only comment is that I'd use Vectra before Scotchguard. Scotchguard's got name recogniztion, but when I got the minivan I was told to use Vectra and it's been really great. The carpets are all mangled (that's what you get with kids), but I put it on the seats and the seats are still quite nice (four years now).

Vectra Website

Like I said, it doesn't have the name brand recognition that Scotchguard's got... I got mine at Home Depot, but my local one doesn't carry it anymore because people just walked in and asked for Scotchguard.
