Question ABS Light and Brake Light on Dash staying on

Hi all,
Here is a question to all of you out there. Yesterday morning, my brake light and my ABS light on my dash came on when I started my E and stayed on. I checked the brake fluid and it is fine. I have a good pedal and I tested the ABS system (in my yard) and it seems to be working. I have an appointment with the dealer for Monday. My E has 32000 miles on it. It is a 2005. I have never had any problems before with the brakes. Anybody have any ideas what it might be? Do you think it is safe to drive to the dealership (approx 30 miles)

thanks for any input you have

Have you checked out all your fuses. There is an ABS fuse under the hood that if blown will cause the ABS light to come on. It is one of the larger fuses in the fuse block.

I will check when I get home. But that still does not explain the brake light being on as well. But you never know.
Thanks for the tip. I will let you know tomorrow.

Sounds like the dealer should be able to hook up my E to some machine and tell me what is wrong. Not like the good old days when the mechanic actually looked at your car and listened to you and your car and was able to determine what was wrong.
Thanks for the info.

Smile The verdict is in

I just got a call from the Dealer. My ABS Control Unit is bad and they are going to replace it. That is why the Brake and ABS light was on.
