Strange beeping noise?

While driving on Interstate 65 yesterday & today I've been having a beeping sound that's got me scratching my head. I'll be driving with the cruise on and there will be a single beep every 10-20 minutes. Its not coming from my cell or any other electronic device. I have no warning lights on instrument panel. What could this be?

Yes I am wearing my seatbelt. Its just a single beep, fairly loud because I can hear it over the radio. Any ideas?

US TOO!! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT???

Its NOT the chime like the guy in this thread (http://www.elementownersclub.com/for...beep)mentioned which I know is normal when you'd open a door and the parking lights flash!

However, OUR problem seems to BE RELATED to the power locks.

NO doors are open but when I hit the UNLOCK button on the driver's door the beep will occasionally sound. It sounds not like the door chime but more like the Fasten Belts Beep but at a low volume and seems to be coming from the REAR of the vehicle. This has ALSO happened when like you we are just "out of the blue"
motoring down the highway ...no buttons being pressed, etc....but less frequently.

Its only started doing this for the past month or so and now its getting annoying. No new electronics added or anything.

We start thinking someone is texting us and its just weird! And no there are no extra phones or something hidden in the car!

What is odd is we ALSO have a CB radio ...but since 05 and its never done this. Its not even ON! Its a small Cobra...but beep is NOT coming from that area where cb is. However, we have a glass mounted antenna in about the spot from which we hear the beep. I know the K40 antenna...your radio and antenna are about 2X the size of ours and your beep is louder.....but how could that possibly be related?!!?!?! Government and tin foil hats?!!??

This might sound crazy but if there is anything sitting on the passanger seat that has some weight to it it will cause the seatbelt beeper to sound off thinking that there is a butt in the seat. When you hear the beep check to see if the seatbelt light flashes on. Just a crazy suggestion.

Hey! We're the ones hearing an unknown beep...your idea about stuff on the seat isnt crazy at all!
It happened again today. My wife was driving and I was in the passenger seat. Turned the car off....unlocked the power lock and it beeped. We restarted the car and tried to get it to do it again...no luck!

The darndest thing is its like a gunshot in the woods. The first time it catches you off guard and then you start listening for it again. But since it doesnt do it a 2nd time you cant be sure what direction it came from!

Did it again today but got it to repeat.
Car was run 8 miles then parked. Drove 8 miles home and turned car off.....Before taking key from ignition...unlocked doors...beeped the first time weekly then started wailing like a dying duck for 2 seconds the second time I hit the button.
My wife remembers this exact same thing happening on her 84 Mercury Marquis before the chime/buzzer died completely.

However, we tested dome functions. The parking chime, key in ignition (after opened door) and headlights on warning functioned normally! We didnt however try the driving without seatbelts one part too unsafe near home. We will ill test that out at our campground later this week.
