I need to install front license plate brackets, HOW?

I just moved to a state that requires front license plates and my element doesn't have one. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not that handy so please say I don't have to drill any holes. I'd like to be able to do this myself but if I can't then I'll have to take it to a dealership or auto store.

Thanks for reading.

You have to drill holes. Stupid design, but thats how Honda did it.
Its not that difficult. Even if you are not handy, I have confidence
that you can do it.

You should finish filling out your profile, so we know where you
are. If you are nice, maybe someone will help you do it. If you
are in Nor Cal, I will do it for you.

It could be worse. Here's how to do it "by the book" for the optional trim (see step 15).

With the standard plate, you just need to do step one in reverse. Hook the top in place, center it and drill 2 holes. As I recall it uses two, #16 self taping screws.

Thanks, I live in Texas, specifically Dallas. I appreciate your offer though.

Thanks for the PDF's. I was searching around and front plates are required in Texas, lots of people say that police won't pull you over but others say that they've been pulled over and gotten warnings.

Thanks.

front plates are getting old. states that issue 2 plates just use it as a reason kinda like a busted taillight.

ive used no front plate in NY for the past say 8 years and never had any front plate issues.

not sure if the SC uses the same bracket but ide send you mine if it would beat the price of buying new.

Nooo!! Don't do it!! I live in a required front plate state also(WA). I never put the front plate on any of my cars and have only had one ticket because i was parked downtown in a major city. Now I bring the front plate and throw it in the dash when I park downtown!

If your state requires having a front license plate then you should install it.I work at a Lexus dealership here in California where we also require a front plate and have noticed an increase of customers coming in for a front plate bracket.Since the economy is bad the police,at least in my area, seem to be doing alot more fix-it tickets for just about anything.

This is what I'm installing on mine, so it will be there whenever I happen to need it!

I used to get more comments from officers. no tickets..... when it was on my dash.

got none when its just not on.

seems its much easier to just not notice if it exists rather then for it to be in the wrong place.

if I ever feel the need to have one on I will go the same route as darth. and have it hide between the raised section on the center of bumper and splitter when i have them all installed.
