t@b Trailers are back!

I was pretty surprised when they quit production a few years back but looks like they're now being made again:
http://tab-rv.com/

I just noticed there's a dealer in Eugene OR that actually has 2012 models in their inventory, so it appears indeed to be true:

Now I just have to start working on my wife to be into this, as I always wanted want of these as a perfect camping mate to my E...I just have to convince her this is a better route to go then the new house she keeps lobbying me for.

They look great, but, unless they have lightened the load (or offer smaller models now), it's too heavy for the E to tow.... According to their site -

http://tab-rv.com/features-specs/

it STARTS out @1490 lbs.

1640 lbs fully loaded. Has hydraulic brakes. I'd be very comfortable pulling that thing.
How does the bed situation work out with that? I'm picturing the table sliding down and then you use one of the back cushions to lay on the table to pretty much make the entire living area into a bed.

Look at the Little Guys website. Their units are smaller and weigh much less.

I know the E is only rated to tow 1500lbs but I don't think it would really be pushing it to tow this thing. Smaller won't really work for me - I have a wife and two small kids, so it's already pushing it to think about fitting in this thing. As far as the layout, here's a schematic:

http://www.suttonrv.com/brands/tab-rv.php

I haven't looked very carefully into how things have changed with the new models - the original models had 3-4 different layouts, including one with a small bathroom and another that had the kitchen outside in the back when you flipped up a lid in the back. So far just looks like they have the simple layout above. That's actually fine with me - with a trailer that small, I don't really want to waste limited space on a bathroom.

You can't stand up in a Little Guy.

But then with a maximum interior height of 69" I couldn't stand up in a T@b.

The original t@b company also made a larger "t@da" trailer - I checked one out once and it was pretty spacious. I presume it was definitely too large for an E but hard to find the specs on the original versions anymore. Here's a google search for images of the original t@b and t@da trailers:
http://www.google.com/search?q=t%40d...w=1389&bih=671

There are also some images of floorplans etc. Looks like the new t@b version is definitely simplified - much fewer options and seemingly only one layout available. The original ones were really nice and they definitely turned eyes on the road and in campgrounds (at least they turned my eyes whenever I saw one). I'll have to look around and see if I can find some info on what the original ones cost. You can find them used if you look around, but they don't come up for sale that often and seemed to hold their value pretty well.

And of course what would EOC be without the t@b owners club:
http://www.tabownersclub.com/

Doesn't look like there's been much traffic at that site but there are a bunch of photos etc.
