We have been talking to locals and making lots of phone calls over the past few weeks to get our schedule locked down. I'm excited to say that things are looking good. Let's take a look at how that weekend is shaping up...
Thursday, July 14
We anticipate that many of you who plan to attend the Honda visit will want to arrive on Thursday. We will have a
registration table available from 6-7pm in the hotel lobby, assuming T Mac and JuliE are there early enough to do so. There
is nothing planned for Thursday other than it being a travel day for many. It's probably also going to be a fun night for many to hang out and meet one another for the first time as we arrive at the hotel.
Friday, July 15
On Friday, July 15, 100 lucky participants will head up to
East Liberty to hang out with Honda's staff and take a tour.
Here is a snapshot of what Honda has planned for us already on that day:
- 11:30 am - Greeted by plant management
- Luncheon with the Honda staff
- Presentation on Honda and/or Element
- Abbreviated tour of the plant (in groups of around 15 people)
- 3:00-4:30pm - Tailgate reception with plant workers
*IMPORTANT NOTE:
- Honda will allow only 100 total visitors on our Friday visit. This may mean allowing EOC members without guests - but only for this Honda visit portion of our meet weekend...not sure. We *may* take a group poll on how we should handle this, if necessary.
After spending the afternoon at Honda, we may or may not return to the hotel (depending on how much time we have). On Friday night, we will
assemble at Quaker Steak & Lube, America's
#1 motorsports-themed family restaurant. We have a reservation for 7pm. If you can't make it to the Honda plant visit, please try to get into town
so you can join us at this restaurant! They are holding a reservation for us for 100+ people so do your best to join us for food, drink and great company...it should be a great time!
Saturday, July 16
Keep your fingers crossed for good weather because we have a fun day planned at the beautiful
Hocking Hills State Park, located
Southeast of Columbus. We have a picnic shelter already reserved at the Ash Cave location! The day should shape up
something like this:
- Registration open from 8am-9:15ish in hotel lobby
- Continental Breakfast at hotel
- 9:30am - Gather in hotel parking lot
- 10:00am - Depart for Hocking Hills State Park (ETA: 11:15am)
- 12:00pm - Lunch, followed by raffle drawing for giveaways
- 1:30pm-??? - FREE TIME at the park. Enjoy!
*IMPORTANT NOTES:
- 1. A box lunch from Subway is available to you and your guests for a small fee. To place your order for sandwiches, you must do so through our online registration system. If you don't place an order for a lunch, you'll need to provide your own for the Saturday lunch.
- 2. There is a $5 per-car entry fee at the park gate that you will be responsible for.
Your time on Saturday afternoon and evening is yours to spend as you like because we assume that (1) you'll want to enjoy
the beauty of this state park and also (2) you may want to hang out with certain members or groups - even making plans
of your own for Saturday night with those friends/groups. That is why we chose not to book everyone doing the same thing or being in the same place on Saturday night. For those not
familiar with Columbus, there are many great places to eat, drink and be merry. Here are a few links to get you started:
Sunday, July 17
Sunday is our day to say goodbye and hit the road back home. As always, the hotel offers a continental breakfast
but if you choose to go out and grab a bite with your friends, that's fine as well. Drive safe and take care of that E!
