Replacing radiator fan..

Quick question..
Is it absolutely necessary to remove the top radiator hose in order to replace the radiator fan?
I'm hoping there's a way to replace the fan without the coolant mess.
Like sliding the fan out sideways or something.

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, at the top of the fans are the screws to secure them to the radiator, the bottom only has a couple little "stakes" that fit into pockets that are very close in size to the stakes... So they can really just come out in one direction...

Do you have enough room to sneak it around... Maybe??
(When I replaced my radiator, I swapped fans around, but it was out and on the bench... )
I'm one of those "visual" learners, I would have to see it to say for sure one way or the other... Ha!

Coolant draining wouldn't need to be *entirely* complete... just get the level down far enough to pull top hose.
A clean bucket and a clean funnel... what comes out, goes back in...

Thanks Kargo!
Well after trying VERY hard to not have to remove the top radiator and somehow slid/wiggle the radiator fan out sideways, it was a definite no go.

I ended draining a little bit of fluid from the bottom of the radiator and then disconnecting the top hose to lift the fan out.

All is well and I'm back in business!
