I just replaced the front struts on my 08 last year. All of my research showed the same the struts 07+ were different than pre 07. One brand I found on Rock auto how ever showed it was the same strut through all years of Elements. I took that part number to a local auto store had them cross reference it which returned numbers for the pre 07 struts. From what I could see the strut mounts were the same through all years as well. I emailed Monroe to ask them what the difference was. They said the valving inside was different. I decided to try them anyways I got the complete strut assembly pulled out the old ones and compared. I seen no visual differences so I installed them. One side went in no issues. I forget which side but the tab for the brake hose needed to be bent a little bit for it to fit right. Other than that no issues that I have noticed yet

I am thinking of going mixed now... Monroe fronts are $145, Honda are $265 so I will probably pony up for the Honda front struts. Monroe rear are $105, Honda rear are $330. I just can't justify greater than 3x the cost to get Honda rears when I know that the springs go soft in about 50k miles.

I have a 2003 Honda Element and I bought Megan Racing springs for a 2007-2011 Element. I can confirm that the front drivers side coil spring is wound in the opposite direction.
