I really like the sliding drawers concept, the only negative for me is weight so I racked my brain with all the options at home depot and was surprised when I found the ideal solution at ikea.

one of these units cut in half is perfect for using as storage/support for a bed platform.

huh... that looks pretty good... feels sturdy?

actually, can you show where you made the cuts? did you use both halves or buy 2?

The cuts were basic. One cut just above the second rail and then the another to even out the new 'bottom' of the new leg I made from cutting the unit in half in the first place.
