Key Fob

Howdy! Just purchased a silver `06 EX-P right off the showroom. I'm very happy with the entire purchasing experience, the E, and the sales staff at O'Hare Honda in Des Plaines, IL.

I appreciate in advance any help from the E community.

During our transaction on Saturday, the Honda salesman noted that they 'Lost' the keys to the E and they were making a new set.

Here's the thing: We already own an '06 Honda Civic Hybrid, and have a set of keys for that car. The keys to the Civic have built in FOB to open/close door/trunk and panic.

Upon delivery of the E, the dealer gave us a set of 2 remotes and 3 keys. The keys are not FOB's. The remotes are seperate units from the keys. To be clear, the keys have no electronic mechanisms to lock/unlock the doors.

I found on the web numerous resources that say the '06 E has 'Keyless Entry Operated Via Key Fob.' This indicates a single key unit with built in electronics.

Did I get the right set?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Key Fob

The key opens the doors and starts the ignition, but not remotely. The Fob is the remote door opener. So to answer your question--yes.

Welcome! :) You got the correct set up for an Element. They probably look like this....

(Thanks to Element J for the photo)

FWIW, various people have been trying to figure out a way to make the key w/ built in buttons work instead, but no luck so far.

Re: Key Fob

The E does not have the same setup as your Civic or the Ridgeline. I wish that it did.

Welcome Aboard Road Runner2. This is a wild place where the inmates are all slightly mad; about everything E.

My son interned the prevoius summer in Deerfield at the Walgreens Corp. HQ.
