  1. Anybody need fog lights!

    Exterior
Is all the wiring for these already in the car? Does it just require plugging into some existing wiring harness plugs? How about the switch for inside the car? I figure that after 10 years I should finally get me a set.
  2. Ellie pulling our new Sliver Shadow

Trailers, Campers and Teardrops… oh my!
Here you go. On flat ground now.
  3. Advice on buying AWD Element

    Shoppin' and Test Drivin'
Do a diff fluid change as soon as you get it. Buy a set of steel wheels and some nice snow tires (I like Firestone Winterforce tires myself) and swap them on in the winter time. Don't bother with TPMS sensors for those. Just ignore the stupid light that will come on. Did this when I lived in...
  4. Air Conditioning Issues

    Problems & Issues
Radiator fan is on the driver's side.
  5. Air Conditioning Issues

    Problems & Issues
Here's the fan/comp clutch schematic for the 07-08 Element. I don't have previous ones. I can't imagine that they changed very much.
  6. Air Conditioning Issues

    Problems & Issues
Then it's the radiator fan fuse. One of the fans has its own circuit and had blown a fuse when I was having similar issues.
  7. Air Conditioning Issues

    Problems & Issues
Popped condenser fan fuse, bad fan relay or a bad fan motor. Either way, your cooling fan(s) aren't coming on. That's why above 25mph everything works fine. You have enough airflow coming across your radiator and condenser coils to keep temps down. Start with the fuse that's in the under hood...

And as a retired Afghanistan and Iraq war vet, thank YOU.

Thanks. Did 20 years active duty, doing more than my fair share of deployments. Now after I retired and got a job as a contractor, I feel like I'm going more than when I was still active. Gotta say though that the places I go as a civilian are much better than the crapholes we went while in...

    Something along these lines:

    Bikin', Campin', Hikin', and Kayakin'
You could always get yourself a Harbor Freight trailer and mount the roof top tent to that. Then fab up some kind of platform system you can extend and camp that way. I get the appeal of having a roof top and not having to tow a trailer, but honestly, that's about the best way to go if you ask...
  14. iKamper's Skycamp

    Bikin', Campin', Hikin', and Kayakin'
It's not so much the rack where you'll have problems (although I guess you found out it could be), but the welds that attach the rack mounting points to the Element's sheet metal. Some people have had those welds let go on them, and others have actually gone and re-welded them to make them...

Might want to have him reinforce your stock rack mounting points, since they're notoriously weak. I'd have serious concerns sticking anything very heavy on the stock mounts even with an aftermarket rack. I was looking at an ARB Simpson III roof top tent until I looked into how the stock mounting...
  16. Mildew smell from A/C

    Problems & Issues
Turning your AC off a few minutes before you turn the car off will help dry off the evap and prevent some of the funky smell.
  17. AC leaking?

    Problems & Issues
I'm wondering if you even had a leak in the first place. If all they did was a "top off", that's pretty much impossible to do properly if the compressor is constantly cycling on and off like that. They would never have gotten a true good reading on the high and low side. Not to alarm you or...
  18. AC leaking?

    Problems & Issues
Sorry, but if you have to ask about adding refrigerant/dye to your system and if you can do it yourself.....don't. you can really damage things that weren't damaged before. Take it to a shop and have somebody qualified service the system for you. DIY recharge kits IMO are the worst things they...
  19. Where can I purchase replacement body cladding?

    Exterior
Well, the original post was about replacing the roof pieces, not interior panels or anything in the fender, so I figured that you were saying that those clips you posted work for the panel pieces the OP was asking about replacing.
  20. Where can I purchase replacement body cladding?

    Exterior
Neither one of those look anything like the ones you need to hold the roof trim pieces on. I DID manage to find some that look similar to what is needed. Not sure if they'll work, but it's about as close as I've seen aftermarket wise...
