So I have a 2003 Honda element.
Which I love by the way!
And I've noticed that some Honda owners have a key with the alarm door lock controls built into it.
My element has a keyfob for the alarm & such.
And the actual door lock / ignition key is separate.
For the convenience of caring...
2003 Element LX keyfob unlocks doors and rear normally. Keyfob button press has no effect on locking any doors. Lock/Unlock button above driver's door handle will lock and unlock all doors and gate, except for driver's side lock (to avoid lockout I expect).

I am not a big fan of these electronic locks & keys where you leave the car and press a button on the dangling keypad to lock/unlock the car from a distance. I prefer the old-fashioned way of pressing a side button while you are still sitting in the driver's seat and the car locks as you get out...
