Okay so I know this isn't really a Element only issue, but my AC went out a few weeks ago and I finally filled it up with a regular can from Autozone (with the hose attached for low side gauging only), and it didn't even use all of it from empty to full (its a pretty big can though)

Problem is, it holds the pressure just fine, however it is still blowing hot, not even slightly cooler air.

(yes the engine was running with full ac the whole time)

I believe that the belt and fans all come on, but I'm no mechanic. There is an obvious difference in the sound of the engine cycling when the ac is on.

Any help/ideas are much appreciated :)

Locate the compressor at the bottom of the engine. Its pulley is the one at the front bottom of the belt.

Using a flashlight, check if the clutch plate is turning along with the belt or is stationary when the belt is turning.

If it does not turn, it could be the compressor or relay

Watch out with your fingers when you inspect it.

Did the freon can you used had a gauge?

Check the return tube. Is the thicker aluminum tube on the right side fender.

If its cold to the touch, you could have a problem with your heater.

There is a ton of other possibilities.
