Aloha All,
I just picked up a set of Optilux 2500 driving lights, and am going to be installing them tomorrow.

My question regards placement of the lights in the bumper, specifically whether or not I need to be concerned with the light lens touching the surrounding plastic of the bumper.

I mean, should I cut the hole, or place them forward enough, so that the glass is a snug fit? Or should there be a gap all around?

Let me know what you think.

Mahalo,

ps I know a couple of other people have used these Optilux lights, and so maybe others are planning to as well. I'll try to take some pics of exactly what I need to do to the mounting brackets to get them in.

That's exactly what I was wondering, whether they should stick out forward of the cutout like that. It doesn't look too bad the way you did it.

The way I ended up doing mine, the light sits right up against the plastic. Pressing up against the plastic like that, I'm unable to get them aimed downwards enough not to blind oncoming traffic. I was driving behind a friend of mine during the day, with the lights on, and he said they were dazzlingly bright.

I wanted them to serve the funciton of DRLs, so rewired them to be in series rather than parrallel. Now they're just about half as bright, perfect for what I wanted to use them for.
