I've traditionally owned silver vehicles and was headed that way with the E, but the blue interior accents, much as I've tried to embrace them, will be the deal breaker. They're not "bad," just not "me."

I've considered SOP; it's striking, but is likely more day-to-day attention than I can process. EBP has dignity and gives the blue interior a different zen, but feels to me like a SWAT truck. Black is great, but can be a maintenance challenge in these parts... Which steers me to GGM and SMM — both of which I like, but some real-world feedback may help me off the fence.

SMM would seem, like silver, a color on which dust and minor abrasions are less evident. This is appealing to me as, though a detail-junkie, there are periods when life leaves little time for upkeep. Is this the case with SMM, or do the panels negate the matter anyway?

My one issue with GGM is its relative darkness of hue. Having not owned a darker vehicle since leaving the midwest, I'm concerned it will be harder to keep cool in a sunbelt climate especially as I'm an open-window guy who foregoes AC when he can.

Any thoughts or comments are much appreciated. Flames too, if composed with wit and panache.

You're correct, it doesn't show the dust as much. The panels exhibit the same amount of gruff no matter which color the main shade is. The balck interior isn't really black, more of a black accents on grey color scheme. We've had ours 3 months and other than the dust collecting on the plastic, I don't see any dusy effect.

The SMM also changes with the light, having a golden glow at times (especially at night) and the panels seem to have more of a brown tinge when next to this color which is really elegent looking.

Oh, we were looking at the GG too, but I really didn't care for the green in the seat covers, so we didn't get it. To each their own I guess.

Allow me to muster all the panache these forums can handle regarding the aforementioned GG Element :)

Ergo, ad nauseum, ich waiss nicht. Point 1: I own a GG 4wd.

I've owned my baby for about 4 weeks now. The hottest temp this thing has been in is an ambient temp of 80 F, with a heat index of around 88 F.

With the windows closed or cracked open a bit, parking in the sun does make for an oven-like experience upon initial entry. The interior is relatively light in color however; the seat does not get hot to the touch.

On to driving: I have only used my A/C while driving because it is what the owner's manual suggests. With the driver and passenger windows open, a 40mph drive in 88 degree heat is more than comfortable. Granted, the average relative humidity difference between Northeastern Illinois and LA are probably pronounced. But the "on-board" ventilation does seem to be more than adequate.

That being said, I do not stop getting compliments on the interior. The colors absolutely accentuate the simple/utilitarian good looks of the car.

I think, in sunlight, that you will actually find the exterior to be a lighter shade of green than appears on paper or in the shade. This could very well be due to the metallic flecks in the paint itself. I have noticed my Element looking a few shades lighter than common grass.

Hope my input helps! I've not made an honest attempt at eloquent writing since college, so forgive me if I've failed ;)

P.S. here is an example of the color of my GG element on a cloudy day, around mid-day.

It sounds like you have not met the colors up close and personal.
If you prefer and have preferred silver, definately go with the Shoreline Mist, gorgeous color, very subtle and you will have the tame grey and black interior.. the interiors of all are awesome, not too dark at all.. and I am in your heat equal on the East Coat we are hanging out in the upper 80's lately (gasp).

I have the Eternal Blue and I love and adore it, perfect! I love the blue accents inside, exceptional! perfect compliment to itself.

I also liked the Green, very cool.. but it would be excellent for my hubbie.. but color was & is the BLUE!! The green is awesome!

I have not met the orange in person, but it is a bold color, and if you are not comfortable with interior color contrasts you might not feel comfortable in such a bold color.

The black, well likely would be a hot box where you are, and also would annoy your detail sensitivity.

The Silver, since you did not like the blue accents.. now have you actually seen them in person??

Here is pix of my E, which is blue and has the same blue accents inside as the Silver does.. they are very subtle.. I love them!

here are some images of mine to give you and idea.. and these were taken in the evening on a cloudy day.. so in bright sunlight it is much brighter of a blue.

Good luck on your choice, but I vote for the Shoreline Mist for ya!! Let us know what you go with and again good luck!

[quote:feac6967ae="bush555"]Happy pics !

EBP and Satin Silver are the two colors I've actually tested, 5-speeds both. The grey/blue does commune with EBP very nicely, and makes for a fun package. But somehow, the same interior shifts personality (or perhaps I do) when silver is introduced. It may indeed be the conditioning of my current charcoal grey.

You do have a fine take on my sensibilities. Expect a bid request next time I re-do the house...

aww you doll.. thank you.

I can see and feel that too, that the Silver holds the blue interior accents differently then the Blue does.. i liked it best in the Blue too, and was confused why the Silver had the blue, yet the Orange kept a grey interior.. hummm well alas.. good luck happy decsion making and let us know what you choose!
