Just curious. It seems that the Element is used in much the same way the Bus was used back in the day. Anybody agree? How do you feel your Element compares?

Before I bought my E, I tried to buy my cousin's 1984 Vanogon (200,000+ miles) but in the end she couldn't bear to part with it. I sent her the link to this Youtube, and I think that was made her back out in the end.

I had an early 70's V-Dub Westy, and when I saw what could be done to the E, I totally compare it to the Dub. I always brag to my friends what it can do camper wise, and how it compares to a westy.:grin:

Yeah, pretty much. Except you won't have the adventures in the Honda I had in my various Westys, because those adventures always involved breaking down in some remote location!

I've had a LOT of VW's.

A co-worker of mine had a 1969 VW camper for ages (it has since succumbed to rust). It had the 1600cc engine and he had two! He would have one in the bus and the other he would rebuild at his leisure. At some point, he would swap them and start the process over.... Worked for him.

It's a great replacement for the VW - if you add the Ecamper. After a wonderful summer in Montana and Wyoming in the Ecamper, I couldn't be happier. Met many folks wishing for the VW, who after seeing the Ecamper, were reconsidering. A 40 year old VW or a new, reliable Honda Element with the Ecamper. What is there to decide? It's not a hard choice. Love, love, love my Element and Ecamper!!!

Be grateful you didn't get a Eurovan. While very cool in design and interior they aren't great cars. We had one for 3 years and in that time we went through 2 sets of brakes, had the electrical fall out of the bottom of it and a few other problems. We loved it as a family car but the quality of ours was so bad we had to trade it in.

I have owned many VW and a few have been buses they are very cool now more so than then. The prices also reflect that now!

I consider it a VW bus/surf wagon hybrid, the flip up back seats and the flat floor will make it super easy to sleep inside with some sleeping bags, but the Ecamper is an awesome idea.
