I am sure that many owners must tow over the 1,500 limit regularly. Just wondering if anyone here has had an actual issue as a result of towing over the weight limit -- like 2,000-3,000 lbs? I'm talking about the following:

- Loss of control/collision
- Damaged transmission
- Damaged engine
- Damaged cooling system
- Damaged suspension
- Damaged braking system

Installation of a transmission cooler and trailer brakes is assumed. Not looking to debate the wisdom of this, just looking for some real-life experiences. Personally, I tow a popup that probably is around 1,600 lbs. loaded with about 160 lbs. tongue weight. I've pulled it up to 7500 ft. into the Sierra Nevada as well as through the desert and up hills including the California Grapevine during warm weather with absolutely no issues. I have trailer brakes and a transmission cooler and keep RPM's under 3500 on grades with the overdrive off. I sometimes am creeping along at 35 mph but I always make it up to the top.
