Im considering getting a 2010 Element but then i found this forum and read about the wind shield cracking problem. Im trying to get a handle on how common this problem is. Are there any element owners out there who hasn't experienced this problem? Please chime in on how long you've owned your element if you haven't experienced cracking. Thanks!

I've had my 03 for 2 1/2 years now and got a small chip about 2 months after I bought it.
It could be fixed with one of those side of the road places, but I'm lazy.

I've driven it about 50,000 miles and across 10 states.

And you have no idea how hard I'm knocking on wood right now!

5 and 1/2 years. 129,000 miles. A scratch but no crack.

Really the problem seems to have been with the first Elements off the production line.

the form I got said 05&06.. I think honda should just replace all 05's &06's with the same color E that you have, and be done with it. but instead there paying the lawers a big load of cash &the ones that gave the Idea to the lawers to sue honda.come on honda just do the right thing for once.

I've had my 2006 almost a year now (bought in June 2009) just recently got my first chip, I even heard it at the time, but then forgot bout it for a few days, then saw it and was sad.It is near the top of the drivers side. I hear some talk here bout Honda fixing it? Would I be entitled also?

I think the issue is a crack that can not be explained by, say a rock chip. I think that rock chips happen, no matter what you drive. Now it is true that the Element has more exposed glass, after all it is a box?
The cracks that just start like in a corner and start to crawl is what is of concern. My '06 has close to 60 K and no cracks. A few rock chips that were filled in and have not crawled. My windshield has met my expectations.

The Elements that had the cracking windshield issues were the late 2003 and early 2004 production models. They fixed the issue on the production line and it hasn't been an issue since. That issue was a high spot under the windshield about in the center of both A-pillars.

Now, if the 2005/06 models had/have an issue it is something else unrelated to the original windshield cracking issues.

2 cracks and 6 chips....all stone chips
in 6 years and over 250,000 km

I do alot of highway driving in the Greater Toronto Area, and the roads are a perpetual construction site...

I still haven't replaced the windshield though...as long as it ain't broken, I'm in no hurry to get a brand new windshield chipped...lol

Six years, 50000 miles, no cracks, scratches or chips in the windshield. That includes gravel roads and many miles of interstate under construction.

I wish my door panels looked as good as my windshield does.:-(
