(Don't mind me, Scott. The following rant is aimed generally for this recurring discussion.)I've literally had 3 different dealer representatives tell me 3 different things:
1. They stopped making manuals in '07.
2. They stopped making manuals in '08.
3. There were no manuals in '09.
When are folks going to realize that car salespeople are talking out of their @$$es when they say stuff like this? THESE SALES WEENIES HAVE NO CLUE, and, despite the airs they put on, HAVE NO SPECIAL CONNECTION to Honda with "the inside scoop". On anything.
That floor salesman is looking at a stock sheet, usually knows little beyond what's on that sheet (maybe an upcoming order list), and his or her #1 job is to convince you to buy something that's in his/her dealer's inventory right now, and buy it today. Period. If they don't have it or won't have it shortly, they'll do everything in their power including bald-faced lies to convince you that you are wasting your time because you will never find what you're looking for, and, oh, by the way, here's a shiny new one just like the one you're looking for, sign right here.
The sad thing is that, in general, people are pushovers for a glib sales pitch, so this crap moves cars, and because it moves cars, Honda and the rest of 'em use sales numbers (and not buyer preferences!) to further propagate the concept that M/T cars don't sell.
