If you have children or grand-children, here is a lesson,
Just got our EPB 5sp AWD, had 30 miles on it, got up Sunday morning, my
wife and I were going to play tennis, got in the E and it was dead, completely
dead. Took the other car.

Salesman came over to our home Monday with a battery pack and started the E, he noticed that the Rear Light by the Clam Shell was on as he back the E out the drive....

Our 3 year old grand-daughter was standing back there, and must of turned ON the lightswitch....Battery Dead after one day.

When you turn off your engine, look in the rear view mirror, if the light is on, gremlins or grandchildren have been at work.
Best Wishes,
Lightship

my battery went dead overnite from simply having the key in the "on" position. I was camping and had a TV plugged into the rear outlet, had the key on to power the outlet. I unplugged the tv, and went to sleep. I have no idea why the battery would run down with only the clock going. BUT, I will remember not to do that again!

i believe thaving the key in the on position provides power to the starter and various other electrical systems... drawing something like 20 amps... do a search for "ignition beep" and you should come across some threads talking about having the key in the ON vs. ACC position.

anyway... in response to this thread, i left my rear dome light on all night long and it had no noticeable effect on my battery.
