Thanks to all the posts on this forum, I am the proud new owner of an Interstate MegaTron MT-56 battery. Installation was literally a piece of cake (and I'm no mechanic). My 15 year old son and I put the battery in and reset the radio code and it only took about 30 minutes and that was with me kind of showing him how to do it. The MT-56 has 740CA and 590CCA with a reserve capacity of 85 minutes. This is a good step up from the stock battery for not much money.

Gave it a few minutes on the charger to top it off (even thought the guy at the store said it was fully charged) then hooked up the terminals and she fired up just by sitting in the driver's seat and thinking the word "crank". Didn't even have to touch the key (ok not really. but it fired up real quick ).

Once I decided I did not want my son to have the "all powerful" Optima (that when it quits working cannot be jumped off), these are the threads that helped me the most with my decision of size and installation tips. I followed these to the letter and it worked perfectly!!!! There are pictures and all here.

Thanks guys. I'm much more at peace now knowing my son will have a stronger battery as he ventures out into the world. It's also good to know that in the event the battery ever starts to go bad, it can be jumped off so at least he can make it home or to a garage somewhere.
:-D

p.s. thanks to you guys I know more about batteries now than I ever wanted to know...

I hope this post helps someone else the way the others helped me. Thx.

BTW; to clarify my above post, any size #56 battery should work this easy. Autozone carries the Duralast 56-DL,
Sears or Kmart have a series 56 Diehard,
Walmart has a #56 that will work.
Most any #56 battery will fit and work.

Double check to make sure the positive terminal is on the left and double check the size, but it should be easy as pie with a size 56. :-D

It's a little short, but the fairy tale would make a nice bedtime story, I'm sure. HAHAHAHA
