I am sooooo disappointed that Brad Hick's "Low Bullsh*t Guide to St. Louis" is long gone. The crowd on EOC would appreciate it, for sure. It was a bit of early web-journalism genius that was the penultimate reference for the region.

The Low BS Guide poked fun at many area provincialisms (and there are many to pick from), and was DEFINITELY untouched by Chamber of Commerce cheerleaders... not to mention that it was darned accurate.

here ya go... archive.org's archive of it from 97:

The Hick link could use some updates....
Of course it could - it was last touched in 1997. I know Brad second-hand; he would rather just let it be and he has less-than-zero interest in updating it. I gather that he really wishes that the archive.org version would go away because he has moved on to other things. FWIW, archive.org is where old websites go to live in perpetuity.

I thank Shen for publishing the link because the Low BS Guide is a genuine look at the STL metro area, and it's only slightly dated. The official promotional sites you listed are certainly useful guides for the hordes of EOC members about to descend on our town, but they miss on conveying the flavor of where we live.

Great! I'll be there with the wife and kids...can't guarantee the kids will be at all the functions, but definitely the ball game if we all go. We just spent a week out there this past week, got back last night, and it was great. Saw the new Busch Stadium still being built, and it looks like a great ballpark. We'll probably get there a bit earlier than the 13th, as my wife's family lives in St. Louis, so we can turn it into a family visiting trip, and the EOC meet all wrapped into one! (At least we don't have to worry about hotel costs)

I'll be wearing my Houston Astros hat to the game (although I do have a Cardinals hat too if things get ugly with the natives:twisted: :-D )...Can't wait to meet all of you! See you in July.

Dave.

Bars close at 2am...liquor laws are last call 10 minutes to 2, and you can buy in the stores until 12am....they sell liquor and beer both in the grocery stores in St. Louis as they're not an ABC (Alcohol Control) state like Virginia is for instance, and other states around our country...so you have one stop shopping:grin:

St. Louis has great micro-brews that are local to the area too (if you're into that kind of thing).

True, but don't get caught in a bar being served after two...illegal for both you, as well as the establishment...I know there are some that do that (not that I've partaken myself:grin: )

Thank you for mentioning this point.
For those of us new to the meet I was concerned it was all field trips and museum stuff.

Field trips during the day..... but when the sun goes down.... well... you know what they say. I sat out on the midnight fun last year (because I had such a long drive home the next day) however, this year will be a little different.

We drove home the next day, then on to Quebec City the day after......

Tequila by default
Mind erasers when I'm desperate

Does anyone know if the texas brewed Shiner Bock is available in STL?
If not I guess I could always bring one with me.
