I'm really hoping that one of the great people on this site can help me. My wife and I have been tent camping for years... bodies are starting to feel it more and more now, even with using military cots.
Anyhow, I was flipping through our local Craigslist site and came across and interesting add.
Cadet fiberglass camper... for a really, really reasonable price. I tried to do some searches.. but have very little luck. The only info was that they are made in Europe (possible Poland), had been shipped through Canada, and that not very many of them came to this continent at all, let alone making down here to the lower 48. But I understand that they are very popular across Europe. Found one site, but it was in a language I did not understand.
I have contacted the seller, and they don't seem to know very much at all either, or at least aren't sharing.

Do we have anyone on here who has owned, towed, or can give me a link???

Thanks

Just took a look at that Cadet. If I were you---I'd be looking into it. Unless it's REALLY REALLY messed up---they are practically giving it away. Love the shape!

I like that! I would be looking into it too because if you don't then I might!

edit: found this blog on Fiberglass Rv http://our85cadet.blogspot.com/ from an Element owner no less. Too bad he had to sell it because of medical issues :(

thanks for the info

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. I dropped a note on the website suggested .... and then searched throughout their site for more info... but didn't find very much...
Plan on making a trip, about 2-3 hours from my house, to check out the Cadet.. but just want as much information as I can find so I know what to look for...
especially if there are any failure tendencies in any areas.
I read that the fiberglass probably will have some cracks or spidering, and that is to be expected...
So we'll keep you updated as the process continues.
Thanks again.

thanks PugMom...
left you a note also on fiberglassrv website...

have emailed the seller again, and asked a possible deal-killer question...
what is the length of the bed(s).. As I am 6'3"... that could be an end to our conversation. But if the bed length.. comes up a little short .. we may have another opportunity for a pull-behind.

Went to the RV show today at HersheyPark, TONS of really BIG, expensive units, and actually saw a couple of possibilities that our E could pull... one of them really caught my wife's eye..
It is a QuickSilver all aluminum camper... sold locally through a dealer in Lancaster area. Really low towing weight, and had colors that could coordinate with our E.

Big difference obviously is price... and what is affordable, yet functional.

Thanks again.

UH OH----6'3" could be a problem. I think some of the biggest beds are in the Compact Jr. (another vintage fiberglass.)

I'm glad you have another possibility. When I went to a local RV place and told them I had an Element, the guy looked at me like I was nuts. Didn't really want to bother with me! Said I could do a tear-drop he had or a leaky pop up tent camper. I wanted to kick him in the shin!

I know you'll find something for you. It's really fun!

Keep us posted. I'm gonna go look up the Quicksilver now!

If you can find them, the most space seems to be in the Genesis series, combined with the teardrop style rear kitchen that keeps you social while cooking... If I can find one that's reasonably priced I may have to beg the wife to consider it;-)
