Just returned from 1 of 2 1000 mile roundtrips to MS this week...E performed flawlessly even with my tendency toward a lead foot on the first trip easily averaging 75-80 on the interstate.

Noticed something different on the way to work this morning, though: There is a slight almost chirp like noise coming from some rotating engine part. It's faint, it does not turn off when turning the AC/compressor off, and it does correspond to engine RPMs. It doesn't come across as a "harsh" noise...just like if you were to hear a small cricket (single chirp only) in the engine bay with a nice rhythm to him.

Everything performs normally but this is a new sound just as I am about to corss 28k miles. Anyone have ideas on what may be the cause? I'm always on the lookout to be prepared for a coming part failure...especially if it's a moving or critical part that can be monitored...and especially if I need to have Honda cover it before the 36k warranty goes.

Noises in vehicles are notoriously hard to diagnose IME

At least yours is constant. Nothing worse than intermittent noises - they ALWAYS go away when you take the vehicle in to see a mechanic! :)

If the noise fluctuates with engine RPM - I would start with the basics, examine the belts and belt driven items and accessories.

Yeah...belts and pulleys are the primary concern here. Problem is, I can imagine maybe getting lucky enough to zero in on one part making the noise but then...? If it is the alternator, PS pump, or similar, will definitely have Honda taking a look.
