I am not entirely sure if this is possible with the tools one has, but I wanted to confirm it too...
Changing opening picture to NAV screen?

It's possible...
As you probably suspected, anything is possible... It's just a matter of if it's feasible.
When I had a Civic hybrid, I used to visit these forums, and there's a guy that recently did that with his Civic nav system... Maybe you can go jab him for clues, but it doesn't look very tough.

Ok, so that answers my question about a picture.. thanks now to add to that if its possible to have a short 3-5 second flash video play like special effects or so... I'm not so sure about this one but I thought I'd ask anyway - thanks guys.
