I've heard a lot of Dos and Do Nots about how to take care of your E. Things like film on the side plastic panels or wipes that have ruined the dash. Which ones are true? What's everybody's experience? Is it OK to just drive to a Do-It-Yourself car wash and wash with regular soap and water?

p3,

just my two cents, but i have washed my E in a auto carwash and also the spray kind that you do yourself. have had good results from both. also i use the armor all car wash wipes in between. they are great.

I look for products that clean well, rinse completely and those products
are usually vegetable based -no petroleum . A minimal use of chemicals
is usually the best. I like a product made by AUBREY ORGANICS(no I
don't work for them) called Earth Aware all purpose cleaner. I can use it
inside and out . Those plastic body panels need to be kept clean with
a mild product such as this, with nothing that can "build up".
It also leaves a great natural shine. You'll feel good about using it and
it's good for the environment and your element .

I used armorall wipes that come in the plastic pull out tub and they left my dash with a permanent haze on my Camry. I discussed it with the company and they told me to get some rubbing compound or car wax and rub it out. This was not sucessful. I could not believe that Armoralls research dept. could not anticipate this problem. I will never use Armorall products again.
