I was thinking of putting in some infinity or polk component speakers and was wonder were one would put the crossovers that they come with. Do you tape or mount them next to the tweeters or behind the head unit or what. If you have to put it behind the head unit or wherever is it difficult to wire it up??

Put the crossovers up under the dash on each side.

Thanks a bunch, is it pretty easy to do and do you guys recommend components or coaxials in the doors and and seperate set of tweeters for the pillars??

Yes, it's fairly easy - wire ties are OK to use - they are your friends.

I'd recommend component speakers up front and coaxials in the rear doors.

If you use components you'll want to run new speaker wiring from the head unit or amp to the crossovers and then from the crossover to each door and pillar.

You can probably use the stock wiring for the rear coaxials though.

BTW, there are other (better IMHO) choices out there besides Infinity and Polk. Check out the following post...

Where: the same place the EX tweeters are - 1/3 of the way up the A pillars
How: by using the tweeter flush mount kit that should come with most tweeters
Connect method: run a new wire down the side of the dash to the crossover

PS. For best imaging results aim your tweeters at the dome light on the roof (if your tweeters allow this).

jrmorosco, if you refer to the tweeters string, gmdod and i were talking about the same thing. I installed Infinities last night. There is no wiring to the pillars, so you will have to run wiring through the gasket into the door. It is much easier on the driver side because your arm may fit up the side of the dash. You can feel the gasket there as well, and the hole in the gasket to run the wiring. I mounted the crossovers in the door, just velcro them... Now the passenger side is MUCH more difficult because the space on the side of the dash is so tight from the glove compartment. Check out Element-J's site for directions on mounting the tweeters. Very helpful!!

Dude, the crossover comes with the speakers you purchase and you can mount them under the dash or in the doors although I'd highly recommend the dash.

And what do you mean by "jump" the wires?

I put Infinity components in my EX. Ended up taking them back out as the tweeters were way to tinny for my ears. Very harsh. I am going to work on a different configuration, which will most likely result in a different head unit as well.

I hear that. Infinity is known for notoriously bad highs.

If you find most tweeters too tinny (aka bright) in general then you should consider silk dome tweeters instead of metal (which most tweeters are made from) since silk produces a much softer, warmer high.

My personal recommendation for a reasonably priced great sounding component set with silk dome tweeters is made by a company called Crystal Mobilesound. Street price is about $175. Check em out here...

BTW, the web page lists the model as CSc 60 S/T - just so you know the S/T represents the tweeter material choices...

If you want the silk then order the CSc 60 S
If you want the titanium then order the CSc 60 T
