I posted one on a vector armrest on March 14 with a picture, and someone also posted a nice looking fridge in that thread.

The vectors were on sale at Target $55 dollars. Pretty good buy.

Bought the Vector Fridge/cooler/warmer/armrest at Target also but it was on clearance here inNY for $45. Must be they're getting newer models in soon. It fits perfect and makes my ride sooo much more comfortable :D
They are also available thru the JC Whitney catalog but a little higher priced.

i was once told, well i have been told more then once but that was a different subject...

anyway, i digress. i was once told that if you have a portable cooler/warmer you should opt to use it EITHER as a cooler OR a warmer. if you try to use it for double-duty it then fails to work as well for one thing or the other...

anyone actually owned such a beast and if so, could you please comment ?

thanks!

hambone,

I have had a cooler/heater igloo for several years. It has never given me a problem. I use it on road trips, bringing a hot meal for the road, and after getting to the hotel, (after letting it cool down) using it to keep drinks cold in the room.

The one in the pic is almost exactly like the vector I bought. It's dimensions fit the best, snug but could be moved with a slight push as needed. It's been very convienent, although I'm using it for stuff instead of heating or cooling.

So do these things sit on top of the built-in console without slipping around, or did you need to modify things to make it fit right?

Hey folks. The fancy 4.5 cooler is intriguing. How well does it work? It cools to 45 degrees below the prevailing temp right? So, if it's 100+ between the seats, drinking temp is 55+? And as the cabin cools so too do the contents of the cooler?

I still haven't got mine. I'm hoping that Target has another one of those sales before I take my first major road trip in about three weeks. I'll pay the $80 is I have to, but I'd rather pay $50.

I bought the same cooler/fridge/armrest that many threads have mentioned/recommended and love it dearly.

BUT I don't like the rear cup holders because they are too loose and too shallow. The least little bump and it's hello spillsville. Also, the front cup holders are not that at all. They are CAN holders - period. Nothing else fits. Which brings me to cans. They roll and bump around inside the thing with every turn and twitch. Also, if you don't start with your contents being cold already, you'd better be taking a VERY long trip because it takes at least 1.5-2 hours to cool off warm sodas. Overall, if I could get my $55 back, I'd get rid of the thing tomorrow and invest in the style on autobarn.com. They are much better suited as an armrest, cupholder, and miscellaneous holder, and have a much more refined appearance. As for the cooling feature, I'll leave that to quick-E mart.

I love my vector cooler and would not ever go to anything else. The cupholders are not for everything, but great for can's and coffee cups. I have never owned a vehicle with cupholders that grip like these.

As for the cooling down part, Try this. Get a gel pack moulded can style freezer pack. Just sit it in the cooler before you take off and switch the cooler on. The cans are cold in 10 min and stay that way. I just leave the cooler on all day if I am on a trip even with the vehicle off. I always store at least 16 cans and a couple of bottles of water in the thing....never out of refreshments. If you are just going for a short trip, grab a soda out of the fridge before you leave :)

I guess the fact that the E is so much smaller than my van there is no other place to put a cooler.

Welcome aboard heated critter!

You might want to look at some different threads if you want an answer to your question. You have revived a thread from 2003 and none of the posters have been active for quite a while.
