Considering the size of the aperture in relation to the size of the glass on the rear windows if they were clear you would see a lot of sheet metal and plastic from the outside that would look pretty crappy. In order to look decent the clear windows would still require a large tinted border to cover up the bezel area.

Yep, and with all that glass it would get real hot inside without some tinting.

To my knowledge, no Elements are made with clear glass from the rear doors back. As part of the niche vehicle design (you can change clothes in it! you can sleep in it!) it was incorporated from the beginning as much as the vinyl floorboard and fold up rear seats.
