The reason I ask is because a RAV4 got stuck in front of my house this morning. When he was in drive all four wheels spun. When he was in reverse, just te front wheels spun. Is this the same for the Element? All four wheel drive?

I had some trouble getting my E out of our driveway (about 2 ft of snow thanks to drifts) and I watched as my husband worked to get it out and I did see all 4 wheels going.

Perhaps it is because Honda uses hydraulics to engage the 4wd so that is why the 4wd is working in forward and reverse. The way I understand it is when the front wheels slip hydraulic pressure engages a clutch that brings the rear wheels online. It makes sense to allow all 4 to go no matter what direction you are heading. Since we had all this snow in DC I know that all four work in forward and reverse. Later
