Welcome to the EOC Bombcitydavid.

When I bought my '03 EX that latch on the bottom for the drivers side was loose. I was able to just tighten the 2 Phillips screws and it hasn't given me any problem since.

Yours, however, looks like it is pulled all the way out.

Looks like it could be tricky. Maybe if you got 2 fender washers, cut them some to make it fit, and maybe that would get you the clamping force to hold that latch in its proper place????

Maybe you could send us more pictures, and we could get a better idea of what went wrong there.

Hope this helps.

Looks like metal fatigue.
Seen this on older full size vans with the "barn doors" .

Finding all the fatigue cracks, properly repairing and reinforcing the area.

Maybe a photo a little further back - you're saying this is one of the catches for the rear hatch? Or one down on the rocker?

Rocker is a tough location. I believe the only way to get to that area is to cut a hole in the rocker box. I believe the screws go into a plate that "floats" below the surface of the rocker box so that the striker plate position can be adjusted.
