We're on month 7 of our trip from California to Argentina, and I thought fellow Element owners might enjoy this video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_vPyYjjOvg of our Element in action on the funky roads in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. We're in Costa Rica right now, heading for Panama in February before shipping our car to Ecuador in March.

If you want more info on our trip, check out our blog at http://www.thedarienplan.com and we're also compiling information on how to do this drive at http://www.drivetheamericas.com

Lucky you, on such a great adventure. I look forward to seeing what you've compiled on the drive-the-americas website. Between my husband and I, we've been through Southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Columbia and Bolivia. Husband has hiked through the Darian Gap. While you're in Costa Rica go white water rafting on the Pacquare River. It's a class 4. We did the two day river trip and that was absolutely incredible -highly recommended.

The Caribbean side of Costa Rica -Puerto Viejo- is a lot less touched by development than the Pacific. It's kind of Rastifarian and the reggae music does not quit. I'm not sure what surfing is like there though.

Naturally I'll be keeping tabs on you and your travels. Latin America has always intrigued me. All the best to you and your travel buddies. And let us know how the Element stands up. :)

Way Cool.

That is so cool! I've always thought about trying the Dempster Highway in my Element with a few buddies. Kind of going the other way, but my Spanish is mal. I certainly envy you. Way to get way off the beaten path.
