The rear seats are quite high. I find the my dogs won't jump over like they do in the CRV. They have a good view back there and seem happy.

I got a child gate from Toys R Us....$35 made with 'net' and spring loaded poles. I lay the seats down...put a comforter on them to protect them then the gate goes across at the front of the seat. Plenty of room for my three pups....

What type of dog do you have? Labs are very rambunctious and can tear through any and everything something simply spring mounted will never work with them... that will likely go through the drivers head! But cool idea... I am curious what pups you have!

I use a child gate at home for my lab... just to keep her contained in areas of the house less likely to get destroyed while she's unsupervised and they work great. She is very hyper, yet just obiedient enough to realize they mean "stay." I know she can knock them over because we couldn't keep her from doing it when she was only 5 weeks old. If the E doesn't shake the gate loose, then I think it is a fine idea!
