Found this article online today while updating our News page (http://www.elementownersclub.com/news.htm).

"CHP dispatchers received two emergency calls reporting a wrong-way driver heading north in the southbound lanes just after 8:30 a.m. The driver apparently entered the freeway at the Fletcher Parkway/Amaya Drive exit, about 11/2 miles from the crash, Pennings said.

Driving a Nissan Frontier pickup, the driver sideswiped a white Chevrolet Express van shortly before the Navajo Road exit. The driver of the van was not injured.

The pickup kept going and collided head-on with a Honda Element, which flipped and landed upside down against the median. The driver, a 49-year-old man from Solana Beach, suffered moderate injuries."

Yikes... it's amazing the kind of damage one irresponsible driver can cause. I'm a little surprised the Element flipped (must have been steering hard to one side when he was hit) but glad to know the B pillar stood up to the weight! Also glad to hear that the driver was not seriously injured.
