My sons 2003 Element just lit up a check engine light. When we put a code reader on it it said Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) as the cause. If I am not mistaken you cant just replace a TPS, you have to replace the entire throttle body. Has anyone else run into this problem? I think we are going to first attempt to clean the Throttle body and any electrical contacts and see if that cures the problem rather then spend the money to replace the throttle body.
Darn... just checked with Honda parts department and they are asking $741.03 for a new throttle body and they confirmed that the TPS is not sold separately.
Hope someone out there has a good alternative solution.
