Hello Everyone!
Got my first major issue with my E.
2004 with 105k on it...never did anything to it except breaks and maybe transmission flush.

My A/C started to not blow cold. When it does blow cold it is ICE cold.
I took it to Honda and they kept it for 4 hours and it never stopped working/got warm for them! They checked the freon and it is FULL.

Yesterday it happened again so I took it to Honda and they tell me I need a clutch and coil?
Initially they quoted around $1100!!!!!!!!!! But then I talked to someone else there and they will do it for $799 out the door including my rentacar....

Thoughts? Deal? Not So Much?

Thanks in advance!

You should probably fill out your profile fully so we know all the specifics on your vehicle. How many miles are on your E?

Im guessing you have a MT if they want to give you a clutch. That being said i dont see how a clutch has anything to do with the AC unit, unless its the AC clutch (if thats what its called).

When does it get warm on you? are you idleing long/stationary when it happens? Have you made sure that your belt is tight and doesnt need to be replaced? Have you made sure your fans kick on when the AC is engaged? What are the exact climate control settings you have it on when it stops blowing cold?

Hello
I said my milage in first paragraph, 105k and it is a 2004...

Yes it is the a/c clutch and coil...that is what the dealer is calling it.

It gets warm whenever it wants no specific time as in idleing/long stationary etc. 80 mph and it could get warm. The fan is blowing fine...it seems the compressor isn't kicking in once it "cycles" off and on.

All climate control settings have been tried, low, high, max everything.

They replaced the clutch and coil yesterday and it is working perfect now. My question was really about $1150 from one service advisor then the other did it for $799 out the door including tax and about $45.00 for a rental car.

I called another dealer and they quoted almost $1100 just for the parts! So I'm guessing I got an OK deal. Its too late now anyway!

Thanks
