I can't speak for the carpet, but the all weather are great. They are a bit slippery when wet however. The front are anchored down, the back are not. In the snow, they really were great for holding the snow when some got tracked in.
I installed the carpet mats because the floor was way too slippery - especially with snow on my shoes. Gave it some thought though, because I didn't think carpet went with the utilitarian nature of the E.
Once I installed them, I was surprised how much I liked how they looked and figure I can always remove them when I'm doing something that's likely to drag in a bunch of sand or mud.
I have the carpet but plan on getting Weathertech mats. The ones I have had are deep and well made. They are not slippery and hold a lot of snow and sand.
I have the mats and the the road noise was considerably reduced after install. I also installed the hooks (2 minute job). I may get rubber ones for snowtime.
