I just got a quote from my local Honda dealer for some fluid changes.
$84 for a brake fluid change
$74 for a Transmission drain & fill

The E just passed 86k and I'm wanting to get all the fluids freshened. For the peeps that inevitably say, "do it yourself and save $$," no, it's too cold lately to bother with it and I want it done by a reputable mechanic, not a shade-tree mechanic. So I decided to go with the dealer, using Honda fluids. And, they can do it all in the oil-change lane, and I don't have to go to the main service area. You also get a free car wash, whoopee!!

So, do you think this is a fair price for a dealership?

Transmission is a fair price from a dealer but the brake fluid is too much. Tell them you'll pay $50 for the brake fluid. Thats how much a tire change place would charge. BTW brake fluid is cheap, maybe $8 for enough brake fluid to do the whole job and it takes a few minutes to do so don;t feel bad about asking for a lower price.

with your own brake fluid and mityvac or similar harbor freight model vaccum pump you can do it yourself for under $30. And you'll have the pump to do it more often!
