is the 215-50-16 little taller and wider than the stock 205 -55-16 ?

The 2nd number is the % of the width. A 215-50 tire has a height of 50% of 215 (=107.5mm). The 205-55 tire has a height of 112.75mm. That is about .2 inches. You should be okay.
