Had my Element for about six weeks and finally removed the roof. I keep hearing about storing it in the bag but mine has grease all over the hinges that keep it in place. The grease is about the color and consistency of Vaseline.
Is this normal and (if so) what do I use to clean it off?

Yes, there is supposed to be grease on the hinges, that helps to decrease friction and protect from the elements. (Ha.) Just be careful about putting it into the bag...I guess if there is an ABUNDANCE of grease you could wipe some of it off with a clean rag or paper towel...but I would tend to leave it.

Is this the same goopey gross grease that is on the hinge to the gas tank? I seem to always get some on my hands when I stop to pump my gas....ick! I want to wipe it off, but I know it is supposed to be there!
