Hi All..

Forgive me if I make some obvious newbie mistake but this is my first ever post to any message board. When I first saw the Element on Honda Canada's website in the fall, I thought it was about the ugliest thing around. But........now I cannot get my mind off of it...can it actually be as perfect as it seems? My wife and I have a 2000 Accord EXL and have been looking for a vehicle with more utility. I thought Minivan (the Odyssey) but as my wife pointed out, there are no soccer mom's in our house. Maybe a larger sport-ute...but I can't accept their copious thirst for fuel , especially for everyday driving to work.
I am a diver and need a vehicle with tons of room inside for gear (wet gear) and especially tanks....has anyone tried to put a standard tank in the back with the rear seat down?

Changing for a dive can be a bit of a challenge, has anyone used the cabana?

My bottom line is this.....if I were to design a vehicle for diving, I may come pretty close to the Element. Well, perhaps a Hummer H2 or a fullsize conversion van, but I can't afford either and really, most of my driving is around town anyway. So, help me over the hump, are there any divers out there who use the Element....I am 36, well out of the demo, but this vehical seems to work...

Thoughts????

We looked and considered for 2 years. Our 13 year old mini van was dying and we looked at everything. Trucks, vans, SUV's etc... Nothing truely fit for us. The 3 that came closest were the VW Eurovan MV - we just did not like the looks of this. The Chevy Extended Blazer - liked looks way but it was over kill, too big too expensive and the used early 90's Toyota Land Cruiser - I still love it but how can I justify paying that much for a ten year old car. The Element is not perfect but comes closer than anything else and it is fun.
Good luck with your process.

Rex,

My wife and I are in our late 30's as well. The Element was what we were looking for. We had an Isuzu trooper II that was on its last wheel. We were putting in the work on it, as we liked it. It was our truck. About X-mas this year, I saw the Element for the 1st time in person. The pictures did not do it justice. I was at the dealership for about 2 hours while my sister was buying a Civic.

The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. I had time to play with the features, and see what it had, and to think about what it could do for us. When I got back home, my wife and I talked. We were looking for something else to replace the Isuzu, but were not sure what we wanted. We visited just about every car dealer in the area looking for a replacment truck.

We have 3 dogs, and wanted something other than a Yuppie wagon, or a super Lux boat. The Element fit the bill. We added on to it, to make it our Element (one of the nice features that Honda planned for), and we just love it. The fuel mileage is great for an SUV, and with the 4WD, it is great in the snow, and mud.

Basically, it is just what we were looking for.

I hope that helps
