At last the wait is over. Picked up my GG EX AWD Auto this evening, everything went smoothly except a little staredown with the finance guy. Got out the door for about 21,750, probably could have done a little better but I'm happy with it. I'm so psyched - I've never had a new "top of the line" car before - CD player, power everything, moonroof, right down to the new car small, which Honda seems to lay on pretty thick. Great time driving home, took the looooong way and drove over the James River as the sun was setting, fantastic panorama view out that HUGE windshield and side windows. I already picked up the Vector cooler today, only $50 at Target and you would think it was custom made for "E-stallation." Looking for bungees right now on eBay, this is fun! To all those still looking, waiting, or longing, GO FOR IT!

Congrats! Welcome to the wonderful world of E ownership!

That first day is amazing....the night we picked up ours I just had to go to Best Buy and Target....so it made the drive home Extra long!

What fun it is to tool around town in a E!
Happy Motoring!!!

Have to work a little today but didn't mind getting up so I could jump back in the E. Can't wait to go camping because early morning dew beaded up on that shiny GG hood is just a beautiful sight. Great drive in, I whipped around a guy in a VW Golf, which is my other car in which I usually do the whippin', so I know this baby is quick on its feet. Still can't get over the expansive roadview and the nice high seat (and I still have probably 10" of headroom and I'm a little over 6' tall). I just love how everything on the car is tight, guess I'm just not used to driving a well made car (and I always thought my VW was pretty well made - but then my (former) other car is a Ford, so my standards WERE pretty low). I hadn't actually driven with the Vector console "installed," that was NICE compared to that chintzy arm rest that comes standard, and it's plenty big for the passenger too. To those still shopping, don't settle for something you don't want - if the dealer won't order you what you want, find one who will. You may have to wait (I spent a month in agony, but it also gave me time to really confirm my decision to buy the E), but it's SO worth it when you see that baby for the first time and know it was made just for you (my car had 2.5 miles on it when they handed it over to me). Now if I could just get some work done so I could leave and get back in my E...

Yeah!! Awesome !! And Congrats!! I am so happy for you!

Yeah it is unbelievable the feeling, and it does not wear off easily, I adopted mine in January and still in love, I still look around inside, and outside, and still am in love.. what a fantastic vehicle.

I also had a bit of a wait too, i was going nuts with anticipation.. but it is a good thing.. it is not an impulse you confirm and reconfirm what you want and that you want it. So I am more then happy!

ENJOY and again Congrats.. now Pictures!!!! Throw them at us, let us see your new pride and joy!

I'm so happy for your delight in your purchase. I hope you and that pretty green E are going to have many happy and safe miles together.

Tomorrow I join you in the ranks of "Element Owners" and, Lordy, I can't wait.

We need a picture of you and your car!

Great choice on color, looks like you, me and meanelvis will have to start our own group. How is the Vector cooler working out for you anyway? Can you tell me how it doubles as an arm rest? Take care and have fun Like I told elvis, I can't wait to spend the night in my ELEMENT :p

I think the cooler is actually designed to be a center console, the top is split down the middle and opens outward, and each half has a small vinyl cushion on top. It's damn uncanny how well it fits over the existing console and between the seats - snug enough to be secure, loose enough to allow the seats to recline and the e-brake to be used. Installed, the arm rest pads sit about an inch above the stock armrest, which I've folded back since it now serves no purpose and actually gets in the way when I'm putting on the seat belt. It's also a perfect color match for any of the gray interior color schemes. As far as functionality, I think you need to give it a head start by putting cold drinks in it - it doesn't cool down very fast and it doesn't work when the car's off, so I'm thinking its utility may be limited to road trips when you are running the car for hours on end. At $50, it's more than worth it just for the arm rest and the cupholders, plus you can use the cooler compartment for regular storage when not being used on road trips.

Don't think I'll be sleeping in my E any time soon - I'm a regular bed kind of guy. It was great the other day, took her to the beach, walked in the wet sand, got right back in, by the time we got home the sand had all fallen on the floor and I whisked it out with a hand broom, good as new. It's also great for the baby seat, installs in a minute with the LATCH system and it's so easy to get her in and out with the wide opening. What a kickass car!

I've put about 400 miles on my E in the last week and a half and it's been a blast. Great for hauling around the baby, I love how easy it is to securely install the seat using the LATCH anchors. I also like how my wife can easily move from back seat to front seat to sit with me once the baby is out (can't do that in our VW!). It was also nice to fold up a seat and put the stroller in without folding it and still have tons of room for other stuff (can't do that in the VW either!). Only down side so far is mileage is pretty poor, coming in around 18-20 (though I'm only on my second tank) - been pretty hot so maybe the AC is costing me a few miles per gallon, but hopefully it is just the engine breaking in and the mileage will improve, I'll be happy with anything over 20 considering what a great ride the Element is. Had to work this weekend but took a long lunch and went to the beach, parked with all doors and hatch open, some CSNY in the disk player, folded down the passenger seats and took a short nap, it was great. Wife drove the E for the first time today, she loved it (uh oh). So 10 days down and the honeymoon continues!

Jonesy, yer gonna have to change your handle now that you got your E! Ha. Congrats! Mine is supposed to arrive this week. Q: Target.com lists that 17-liter cooler for nearly $80 -- did you get it on sale at the actual store for $50?

:D Picking mine up on friday, green too! I spent a little more though, still owed a little bit on my trade in, and I had to have some accessories right away! I added the mud guards, roof rack, rear spoiler, bungies and steps I cant wait to pick it up! The family and I will be heading to the drive in as our first trip, the theater seating should be great and the stereo with the sub should be awesome!

counting down the days![/b]
