I just replaced my stock lx head unit with a JVC KD-R600 and love it. My wife heard it and thougt it was great but then she asked if there was any way to add more bass. I laughed and said there is always a way to add more bass. So now I want to add a subwoofer. I have searched all around the forums and have narrowed down my choices to 2. We use the element to cary bikes and stuff so I do not want a sub in the back. I think the best option for me is in the stock EX location.

My two choices so far are to go with the stock sub that i can get on E-Bay and power it with an amp or with the Kenwood KSC-SW10 and mod fit it into the existing LX cargo spot. (where stock sub goes).

I know niether of these two are hard hitting bass boosters but that is not what I am looking for. I really just want something to fill out the low end. The stock sub would be Mikes Mod and it looks very straight forward and easy. The Kenwood option would be modeled after Empire's Mod but with the newer model subwoofer. The Kenwood looks harder due to the custom fitting and I am not sure it is worth it. Any thoughts?

PS if you have an EX sub and Grill that you want to trade let me know.

Whats your price range?

i have a Memphis pr10 in my dd element powered with a 250 w MClass amp ... sounds awesome.

With the cab of the element u can get a good amount of bass without breaking the bank.

Sound deadening also helps, I use a trunk kit and it made a great amount of difference.

I want to keep the sub install around $200 with an amp. My main concern with adding a sub is I have bikes in my E all the time. My rear seats are never down and there is at least 1 mountain bike in the back almost every day. So space is my main issue. Because of that I have decided to go with the stock oem sub to start. I picked up a stock sub from ebay nice and cheap and I am now trying to decide which amp to get to power it. If I decide to get an amp that I could also power a 10" later on with then obviously the price range will go up but that is where I am at.

then ... look for a small 250 w Amp and maybe the Rockford Fosgate Transucer (bass shaker) ... but the smaller you go the more the price goes up.

Stock woofer ... your best bet for that may be to surf and try to find a OEM amp for the car..
