Anyone try using herculiner or some other truck bed liner on the spare tire cover?

What about the light greyish portion of the center rear bumper?

How would bed liner hold up to the possible flex of the bumper if it were tapped?

Living in Chicago puts a toll on my E and I'm slowly running out of fingers to count all the tap scratches I have to that center bumper piece not to mention the tire cover from moving objects with semi-pointed corners.

Gotta love the E but those plastic pieces seem to be a magnet for damage... :-x

It amazes me that after 15 years nobody has responded to this.

Since a truly custom cargo liner is a bit hard to come by, and I'm tired of having even a heavy pail of cat litter slide around, I am considering doing this to my cover. I don't really foresee myself utilizing it as a portable table, so that isn't a concern. Though... being sprayed/lined wouldn't stop me either (could always just hose it off if it gets messy before putting it back in).

Has anyone else actually done this? I have to believe so with the sheer amount of ingenuity E owners have had over the years.
