Apologize in advance if this was covered before, but there seem to be a few subforums where people post up info about HIDs. Plus feel a little bit overwhelmed with info as I picked up the car just last week... bear with me...

Is it possible to go HID projectors for cars with DRL's?

Yup, that's the question!

It is but you'll need to disable the DRL's or move them to a different light source before installing HID's. The DRL system runs your headlight bulb at a lower voltage, hence the dimmer light, but that will harm a HID system.

I don't have DRL so I'm not familiar with the system but it's been discussed thoroughly how to disable it. Do a little looking around and I'm sure you'll find what you need.

And then, check out the link in my signature for the best HID system you'll find :)

I think one member even oven baked his head lights to separate the lens away and installed a set of led light strips. The led strip was his DRL and then he had HID if I remember correctly.

ahh, another seeker!
i do hope you find the light, so you can share it. i'm still working on it, squeezing the brain while waiting for some replies and then some...

i'm still trying to understand the headlight wiring diagram, on how to reroute the DRL system to another light setup, which i am thinking of is an angel eyes kit (or for others, LED strip, whatever)

this guy (probably) just disengaged the DRL by pulling out the fuses:

as detailed on GXD's thread endorsed by coffee dragon

http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61986

he had the projectors, the last time he mentioned was he just turn it on and off and have no DRL.

there's this thread from another forum that deals with using the HID's as DRL also.

im assuming that you're from here eh?

of course, their system is different from our system, so in short, the quest still continues on how to tap and re route the existing DRL to another light.

unless there's this thread that detail that already that i have not found yet...
